Scrolio is made by E12 Labs Limited, a company registered in Cyprus with registration number HE 495121 and its office at Ellados 12, 8020 Paphos, Cyprus. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what your rights are. It covers the Scrolio app, this website, and everything else we run under the Scrolio name.
The short version
We collect data to run Scrolio, personalize it, improve it, and grow it. We work with analytics and advertising partners, such as Google, Meta, Mixpanel, and Apple. The most sensitive things (your contacts, your location, cross app tracking) only happen if you give the app permission, and you can take that permission back in your device settings at any time. You can also ask us to delete your account and the data tied to it.
What we collect
- Things you give us: your email address, your name and other profile details if you add them, your interests, the reasons you picked for using the app, and anything you type into the app, such as questions, replies, or feedback.
- Your contacts, if you allow it. Some features work with friends (like sharing stories or inviting people), and those read from your contacts only after you give the app permission.
- Your location, if you allow it. We want to build features that use where you are, for example stories about the place you are walking through when you travel. Location is only used after you give the app permission.
- How you use the app: which stories you see, like, share, and dive into, how far you read, what you search for, which notifications you open, and your settings.
- Device and technical data: device model and identifiers, app version, language, time zone, IP address, crash reports, and server logs.
- Data from partners: measurement, analytics, and advertising partners tell us things like which ad brought you to the app and how campaigns perform. App stores send us download and purchase information.
Analytics, pixels, and tracking tools
We use third party tools to understand how people find and use Scrolio and to advertise it, including tools from Google, Meta, Mixpanel, Apple, and similar companies. These tools use cookies, pixels, software kits inside the app, and identifiers to do their job. Where the law or your device requires it (for example, Apple’s tracking permission on iOS), tracking across other companies’ apps and websites happens only if you allow it.
How we use it
We use data to run the app and this website, build and personalize your feed, develop new features, send you notifications and emails, market Scrolio and measure how well that marketing works, keep the service safe, do research, and meet our legal duties. Under the GDPR our legal bases are: performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running and growing the service, your consent where the law requires it, and legal obligations.
Stories and AI
Scrolio is built on AI. We send data to AI providers to make features work, for example to write stories, personalize what you see, or answer things you ask inside the app. What gets sent depends on the feature you are using.
Who we share it with
- Service providers who work for us: hosting and databases, email delivery, AI providers, customer support tools, and similar.
- Analytics and advertising partners, such as Google, Meta, Mixpanel, and Apple, for measurement and marketing. Some of these partners use the data for their own purposes too, as described in their own policies.
- Other people, when you choose it: if you share a story or invite a friend, the person you picked receives what you sent.
- A buyer or successor, if we are ever part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Authorities, when the law requires it or to protect our rights, our users, or the public.
We do not sell your data for money. Some laws call sharing with advertising partners a form of selling or sharing; where such a law applies to you, you can opt out by limiting tracking on your device or contacting us.
Notifications and marketing
We may send you push notifications (for example, a story about the place you are in) and emails about Scrolio, including marketing. You can turn off notifications in your device settings and unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.
Where the data goes
We and our partners process data in countries outside the European Economic Area, including the United States. Where that happens we rely on recognized safeguards, such as adequacy decisions and standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep data for as long as we need it for the purposes described here. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize the data tied to you within a reasonable time, except for what we must keep for legal, security, or accounting reasons.
Your rights and choices
Under the GDPR you can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy of it, restrict how we use it, object to how we use it, and withdraw consent you gave earlier. Email us at [email protected] and we will sort it out. You can also complain to the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection in Cyprus. On top of that, your device gives you direct switches for the sensitive parts: contacts, location, tracking, and notifications are all permissions you can revoke in settings.
Children
Scrolio is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
As Scrolio grows, this policy will change with it. If a change is meaningful, we will say so in the app or on this page before it takes effect.
